Test Batches

Our roasting team has been hard at work getting our new coffee roaster installed. After far too many months, we are finally ready to fire it up! Learning to maneuver a new machine can be pretty challenging and undoubtedly utilizes many hundreds of pounds of coffee. In order to get our coffee tasting as smooth, bold, and flavorful as is our standard... we have to roast a ton of coffee. Instead of wasting all of our delicious Organically-grown coffee, we thought that sharing it at cost with our customers would be far more fun. :)

Our test batches are available as 2# bags in "Dark Roast" or "Medium Roast". All bags are Whole Bean only. 

Q: So, wait... you're selling us reject coffee!?

A: No no no. Each batch we roast will be tasted by our team and only the best batches will be released to you or donated. The batches we send to you will be a little off our typical targets, but still the same tasty and Organic beans we roast and share with you every day.

Q: What can I expect in my bag? Will I like it?

A: Here is what you can expect ---> Dark roasts will all fall somewhere in our Velvet Elvis and Whatcom Dark range, but no less dark than Baker Blend ---> Medium roasts will be similar to our Sunnyland and Chuckanut Gold. There will be a bit of a surprise involved, but that is part of the deal!

Q: Why did you get a new roaster?

A: Over the past few years we have grown a good amount and have been window shopping for a long while. We decided last year to move forward with a machine called an IMF RM30. Made in Italy, the roaster has safety features that will help keep our team safer and automations that keep us from having to lift heavy objects over our heads. Additionally, IMF's burner circulates hot air through a closed system and eradicates 99.7% of smoke and odor, contributing to less pollutants leaving our roastery and allowing us to roast more coffee with 1/3 the amount of Natural Gas.
